Happy Tears

It all started with a tear
One built out of fear
News that she was pregnant
News she dreaded to hear

She had just begun
Her senior year
And had great plans
For college with her peers

With that single test
Her destiny was clear
Nine months from now
A baby would be here

Days turned into months
And the birth was near
An innocent soul
That was created last year
Had now entered the world
And again there was a tear

One once made from fear
But now the fear disappeared
This tear was made of nothing else
But a new mother's cheer

Seconds

His plate piled high
A meal fit for a king
Steak with mushrooms
with a side of delectable greens

I'd seem he'd be satisfied
But it's not what it seems
At dinner tonight he asks
"Can I have seconds please?"

Man with enough riches
To eat every lobster in the sea
He who has enough money
To feed a small country

One question kind sir
Do you ever consider
If anyone else is hungry?

Feelings deeper than hunger
Now consume you with greed
I dream that one day
Instead of you sir
You'd help someone in need

To bless someone with food
To do a good deed
To fill a hungry mouth
Even if nobody see's

A chain of reactions
Planted by one seed
Created a Philanthropist
From a man once made of greed

Unique

Her name was Unique
But the kids called her strange
Kids can be cruel
But she was proud of her name

Born with a gene
That stunted her growth
A whole forty inches
From her head to her toes

She shined a light
That beamed from inside
Though the teasing continued
She took it with stride

She entered a talent show
With a talent she had never shown
A talent that she kept to herself
The only talent she had ever known

The music began to play
And the kids were absurd
She then opened her mouth
And began to sing like a bird

She had the voice of an angel
And the auditorium was brought to tears
Being all of forty inches
No-one in the room could believe their ears

The judges looked at eachother
And the winner was clear
When the kids clapped and cheered for her
She was all smiles from ear to ear

Many lives were changed that day
From one little human being
She was the talent they were looking for
They called her "Unique"

Maggie

He shines his boots
He's ready for battle
Not knowing if he'll ever see
Another birthday candle

He leaves his family
Not knowing the rest
But he leaves with assurance
That this is for the best

His wife struggles
To keep three hungry mouths fed
At night she feels his comfort
By sleeping on his side of the bed

Day after day
She checks the mail
For just a little note
That assures he is well

The seasons had changed
Christmas had come and passed
Praying for his return
After he finished his last task

Every month
Right on schedule
She received his letters
written in pencil

A few weeks had went by
It was the middle of the month atlast
She started to read his letter
But suddenly she collapsed

This note wasn't like the other letters
That she had received in the past
This note was written out of sympathy
"We're sorry but your husband
Didn't make it out of the blast"

After his funeral
She went to check the mail
And there alone it sat
His last letter in detail

"Dearest Maggie,
How I've missed you
Oh and please tell the girls
That daddy loves them too

Maggie, I've seen things
You couldn't imagine
Nothing I'll ever forget
Stuff you couldn't even fathom

One day my love
I'll hold you in my arms
But until then Maggie
Know that you are my lucky charm

My love for you
Won't fit on this page
My love for you
Only grows as I age

We've experienced so much
Through good times and bad
But I wouldn't change it for the world
You've made me who I am

You are my rock
The one whom I depend
You are my soul mate
My one and only
Best friend

I just want to say
Thanks for all you do
My heart is yours for the taking
Maggie, I love you!"

This letter now framed
Comforted by what he had said
She reads it everynight
While on his side of the bed

Contentment

Like a bird in the wind
I'm fighting to fly
My wings are tired
It's been a long flight

At the rate I'm going
There's no end in sight
I must reach my destination
But it doesn't have to be tonight

I have an inner peace
Knowing you are at my side
Lord give me the strength
To make it through this ride

I long for contentment
But maybe It's already arrived
Contentment could be a choice
Something that we could decide

I will fight the winds
For as long as I'm alive
Through all my struggles
I'll look high to the sky

A California State of Mind

I'm a California girl
With a California guy
Living life the California way
With a California state of mind

California summers
With warm California nights
Surfing California oceans
And Gazing at California skies

You can take the girl out of California
But not California from her eyes
For I'm just a California beach bum
Stuck in a California state of mind

Good Intentions

How many times have you told people
For them you would pray?
When never intending to do so
But it sounded like the right thing to say

Today will soon be yesterday
And tomorrow be today
So live like your going to die
Before life slips away

So tonight before you fall asleep
And as you begin to pray
Change the way you approach life
And act on what you say

Coexist

Christian, Catholic
Jewish or Atheist
We must love eachother
If we are going to coexist

War after war
Is caused by affliction
Love is the main ingredient
But I guess we skipped that direction

Love is the answer
So why can't we change?
That is the beauty of it
Tomorrow is a new day

So go up to a stranger
And do a good deed
One solely out of love
even if nobody see's

One by one
We can start a new trend
And along the way
We'll make a few friends

If we all spread love
Like a wild forest fire
We can become the world
That we've always desired

The Shadow Proves The Sunshine

You can have good without evil
But not evil without good
For every negative theres a positive
A brightside if you would

The shadow proves the sunshine
Where darkness never could
For every negative there's a positive
A common understanding
That's always misunderstood

The sun is sure to rise
And guaranteed to set
The man assumed to be rich
Is actually full of debt

Beautiful are those who are flawed
As those who are perfect
A fact is as close to fiction
As truth is to regret

Unity

Blood is thicker than water
Atleast that's what I've heard
But whoever came to that conclusion
Has alot to learn

Love is a univeral term
That everyone should Bleed
It should pour out of all of us
In fact, water is what we all need

Blood and water
Two in the same
God doesn't discriminate
So who am I to blame?

We all need to stand as one
To love eachother
To love everyone

Louie

Hands raised
Side by side
Palms together
In a vertical line

He shuts his eyes
And begins to cry
His body shaking
And trembling inside

His legs kneeled
On the concrete floor
He whispers, "forgive me,
For I haven't done this before"

I've heard about you
All of my life
But never really needed you
Until tonight

I feel as if
Your my only hope
That you will get me through this
When everything else won't

I come to you
Because of my wife
She loves and praises
Your name everynight

I want the same joy
That she has in her life
Instead of gambling,
Drugs and drinks to get by
I want something more
Something pure as my vice

I am not a perfect man
And I've commited my share of sins
Too many to count
I don't even know where to begin

So I'm asking you
To come into my life
To have a relationship
To prosper, to thrive

I can tell your listening
Even if I cannot see
I guess this is what it feels like
To actually believe

It feels really good
To talk things out
Thanks for listening Lord
I feel a weight lifted now

Paddleboarding

Sliding, gliding, paddling
On the surface,
Legs stiff to the board
Like they got rigormortis

Drifting,gazing,staring
At the ocean shore

I'm addicted, I'm thirsty
My soul is craving more

Trying to focus
And balance this crazy ride,
I'm Euphoric, I'm amazed,
I'm Mesmerized

Under the surface
There's a whole different world,
With exotic fish
And endless coral

This is why my heart beats
And my soul is satisfied,
And to think this is only Earth
I can only imagine what Heaven will be like

Prosper and Thrive

Smaller than small
Like a spec of sand,
You're out in the ocean
And can't spot land

You are the captain
The crew is inside,
Your ship is sailing
But it's about to capsize

Your heart is pumping
It's thrown into overdrive,
The one humanly instinct
Is that to survive

As the boat fills with water
His life flashes before his eyes,
This really could be it
This time he really could die

With his toes in the water
The water made of ice,
He thinks to himself
What have I done with my life?

If he met God tonight
Would he be accepted or denied?
His wife was his world
Why did he have to lie?

All of these questions
Piled high to the sky,
He then added to the water
When he then began to cry

If he had one more chance
One to make things right,
He would change everything
He would Prosper
He would Thrive

As he had accepted this as his final fate
He said his last good byes,
A spotlight shined and blinded him
It was the coast guard in the sky

He had received his second chance
This time he'd do things right,
He still had a purpose
A reason to be alive

What do ya say?

To rise above and overcome
To be one of a kind
To beat to your own drum

Society says to bite your tongue
Thanks to Rosa Parks
That song was sung

To rise above and overcome
We must not be ashamed
We must stand as one

It may be scary
And times may be rough
We might wanna say
That's it I give up

In a world where its easier to blend in
Only when your true colors shine
Do you smile from within

So do not be afraid to stand out in the crowd
For when your only true to yourself
God will be proud

Holy Genes

Young girl with soft, pretty eyes of green
Told she'd never add up to anything
Oh girl, sweet girl with greatness unseen
Walked alone in the world in her Holy Genes

Holy Genes that have no price
Thanks to a God that sacrificed
She walks the streets alone tonight
Dragging her Holy Genes
Stomach empty, but full of life
Thanks to her Holy, Holy Genes

Battle wounds from a life of fights
Are seen where patches hid them all her life
Shown by the scars that are seen in the light
She isn't embarrassed of her Holy Genes

She wears her Genes no matter the season
Whether it's on a Sunday or any occasion

Hurricanes may blow
And she may feel cold
Trials have faded
But have never jaded
Her Holy, Holy Genes

Holy Genes that have no price
Thanks to a God that sacrificed
She walks the streets alone tonight
Dragging her Holy Genes

Stomach empty
But full of life
Thanks to her Holy, Holy Genes
